WYSA Woonsocket Soccer offers a Fall Recreational season, a Spring Competitive season and participates in Indoor Soccer for teams that are interested. An explanation of what WYSA offers follows.
WYSA Woonsocket Soccer Fall Recreational season.
The Fall Recreational season begins late August early September for an eight weekend season.
All games are on Sunday, at the Rivers Edge complex at the end of Davison St.
This is for beginner to more advance players ages 5 to 19. The seasonal year for soccer begins August 1st.
So for the 2015 to 2016 players born between 8-1-1996 to 7-31-2011 are eligible to participate.
Fall registrations usually begin May through July when the Fall Registration database is made available.
Also Flyers with registration information are sent to all schools in the city.
Although online registration is preferred players can register using the Flyers by completing the form and mailing to the address on the form or in person at the Italian Working Men’s Club (755 Diamond Hill Rd.) on 6-18-15 or 7-16-15, use the lower front door then take the stairs to second floor from 7:00pm to 8:00pm.
Teams are determined by the number of players registered in each age group.
All teams are co-ed teams with the number of boys, girls and advanced players balanced within an age group.
The fees for the 2015 Fall season are as follows; $70.00 Full Uniform, (shirt, shorts, socks). $60.00 (shirt, socks). $63.00 (shorts, socks). $55.00 (socks only).
In keeping the fall fee as manageable as possible, returning players have the option of getting only what they need for a uniform for the season.
Everyone gets new colored socks that determine what teams they are on.
Practices (location and times) are determined by the coach for each team.
The Under 6 age group does not have weekly practices, and will receive their uniforms after the first game.
On Sundays their game time is divided into instructional activities sometimes including parents.
Then a small sided 4 v 4 game.
Also, new under 5 & 6 year olds have to register but do not have to pay the fall fee until after the first game. At the first game if players participate satisfactorily then the fee is to be paid after the game and the players will receive their uniforms.
If games are cancelled due to weather we do our best to make up the games that were not played.
Either by doing double headers (preferred) during the regular season or by using a rain date in the schedule.
WYSA Woonsocket Soccer Spring Competitive season.
WYSA Woonsocket Soccer participates in the Rhode Island Youth SuperLiga Competitive Traveling season.
The Spring season begins in April and ends in June as determined by the SuperLiga.
Teams compete against other Rhode Island town teams in Under 8 to 19 age groups in up to four divisions.
Unfortunately there are no co-ed teams, boys cannot play on a girls team but girls can play on a boys team.
WYSA Woonsocket Soccer forms the Spring teams by selecting players from the fall recreational season.
Players interested in competitive soccer request to be on a team.
Try-outs are held if too many players in an age group want to participate.
All teams have a minimum and maximum number of players per team.
Coaches are also needed to coach competitive traveling teams.
The cost per player on a traveling team is $100.00 to $120.00 due by mid January.
Cost is determined by the SuperLiga team fees, referee fees, uniform cost per player and number of players on the team.
WYSA Woonsocket Soccer Indoor Soccer season.
Usually the Spring Competitive teams also participate in Indoor Soccer.
The coaches are responsible for all indoor activities.
Indoor soccer is divided into sessions (9 games) and usually begin in October (the end of the fall season).
First session will take you to the end of the year, second session will take you to the start of spring soccer.
Cost per player is determined by the number of players on a team and cost (last year $900 to $1250) per team.
Full payment is due before the first game, after a $200.00 team deposit.
WYSA teams have been playing at the Wide World of Indoor Sports in North Smithfield.
We have also played at the Habitat in Uxbridge, MA.
